Curved Windshield Lettering Measuring Instructions

As illustrated below, there are simply two (2) measurements required to create a Windshield Lettering Decal that's contoured to the shape of a vehicle's roof. These are the overall decal Width (a) and the Drop (b) that the decal needs to make for the contour.

Once these dimensions are determined, proceed to 1) size the width of the decal; 2) set the height (4" [10.16cm] maximum suggested); and then use a distortion tool (arch) to create the required Drop.

In rare instances, the Windshield may actually curve up into the Roof. Thus, simply arch the decal up in the design process.

Some design programs may change arcs to segmented lines when processing the distortion. Take care to review the artwork closely as you may need to "smooth" the lines and corners for clean and precise cutting.

Lastly, to prolong the life of the customer's decal, we suggest rounding all sharp corners in an effort to limit lifting that may occur from regular washing or windshield wiper action.
